The BMW 5 Series hit the Indian roads in 2007. Positioned in the d+ segment of luxury cars in India, five variants of this sedan were brought in. The powerful and sporty engines and almost flawless set it apart from its competitors. Apart from this, BMW 5 Series boast of elegant interiors, a good rear seat space and high-tech instruments -integrated on the central console. So apart from being a power-packed package and a quick getaway car, it also is loaded with some great features. 

Design

The front end of the BMW 5 Series sedan flaunts a curvy and dynamic look. The trademark radiator grille and feline headlights just lift the appearance of the front of the car.  The wider wheelbase of the sedan gives it the additional rear seat space, short overhangs, imposing silhouette and smooth flowing lines. Its interiors are as luxurious as the exteriors. The height of its comfortable seats is partially adjustable. The electrically adjustable drivers seat comes equipped with memory functions. 

The interiors of BMW 5 Series sedan is a car which provides a great and enjoyable ride without any hic-ups. The cabin is upholstered in the finest Dakota leather. The comfort level is not only influenced by these seats but the entertainment system in the car also makes ones ride ply on the roads of comfort and bliss. It comes equipped with a 6-CD changer music system, with Hi-Fi loudspeakers. Sleek wooden trim adorns the dash and central console. The sunroof Sunroof with tilt/slide functions, and sun blinds on the rear side window are standard features found in all the variants of BMW 5 Series sedan. The features just add up to the aesthetics of the car. 

Powertrain

BMW 5 Series offers five models to the Indian consumers the 525i, 530i, 520d, 530d and the 530d Highline. The petrol engine of 525i variant generates a maximum of 168 bhp. The 530i model delivers an output of 181 bhp. The 520d diesel powered engine generates 161 bhp. The 530d and 530d highline variants of BMW 5 Series sedan are powered by 2993 cc diesel engine, which churns out a power of 268 bhp. The power mixed with the features, the car does boast of a good fuel economy and this is what sustains its position to the top. 

Handling & Safety

All the models of BMW 5 series sedan are fitted with electronic chassis control system, which makes driving a pleasure. The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) in the car helps prevent loss of traction in unstable vehicle situations, like under-steering and over-steering. The DSC of the sedan facilitates increased wheel slip and this satisfies your sporty driving side. All the models of BMW 5 Series sedan are equipped with six speed automatic transmission, which increases the dynamic responsiveness of the engine. The system offers effortless gearshifts, and less loss of power.

BMW 5 Series sedan is laden with some advanced safety features. These ensure a comfortable and protected ride to the occupants. Apart from the driver, passenger and side airbags, the car comes equipped with improved head airbag system, which protects the passengers on the front and rear seats. A curtain airbag is positioned across the side windows. The standard run-flat tyres are capable of being driven up to 250 km even after a puncture, which eliminates the need to have a spare tyre. A fall in the tyre pressure is immediately monitored by the Tyre Pressure Indicator.
